Top Ten Videos from Family History Fanatics

Image
In 2017, I expanded the Family History Fanatics crew from just Devon Noel Lee to include Caleb and Andy. Andy's DNA videos, as you will see, have dominated our channel in terms of popularity and in community engagement. We grew from 60 channel subscribers at RootsTech 2017 to having 2,000 by the end of the year. THANK you to everyone who makes this form of genealogy education possible. We're already filming videos for 2018 and hope to expand the reception of the genealogy research tips and methodlogy on our channel. If you have any video suggestions, leave a comment below. WARNING... this page might load slowly as it's pulling 10 videos from YouTube. You can always hop over to our channel to watch them through on the video platform. BEFORE we started the count down to the top video of 2017, we have an important announcement. Family History Fanatics is looking for guest contributors for our YouTube Channel. If you want to add to the video on our channel, read the following

Why not publish a proof copy and share with a few family members? You'll soon learn the best reason to share a proof copy, is feedback. My goal in 2017 was to finish the final draft of the book about my grandpa Lewis Brown. I've shared stories about him on this blog before, and I use his story often when I teach how to write family histories. However, Lewis' story needed to leave my computer and reside on my bookshelf so my children will know about this beloved great grandpa. To edit my drafts, I had used  Grammarly.com  to catch most of the glaring mistakes. Several errors might still slip through, but the book wouldn't be excruciating to read due to the obvious spelling and grammatical errors. I cited all of my sources, but I still need to establish a consistent style. There is the genealogical standard, but there's also ML

Guest Contributors Wanted for YouTube Genealogy Channel

Video is a great format to communicate knowledge and share tips and strategies. Last year, Devon began sharing videos on YouTube as an experiment. Since then, we've fallen in love with the platform and the people we are able to reach and teach. The Family History Fanatics publishes videos every Tuesday and Thursday and the response is wonderful. Our community keeps growing and the questions shared in the comment feeds to keep us energized! Other YouTube channels have died out in the genealogy sphere, but there's a need for all things family history, as our channel continues to prove. Now, we don't want to keep this format exclusive to Andy, Devon, and Caleb. Many genealogy educators want to reach a larger audience, but they don't have the time and energy to develop a YouTube channel. That's why Family History Fanatics has a collective name. We're not just three Lees who like genealogy. We're a group of people who want to transform online learning, promote pr
